Another Shanghai Tunnel Opening to Connect Pudong and Puxi
By Jonty Dixon
Starting Saturday, there will be one more way to cross the Huangpu when the Changjiang Road Tunnel opens for a trial period.
Residents in the north of Shanghai will now have the option to use the new tunnel alongside the existing Outer Ring Road Tunnel. Stetching across 4,912 meters long with six lanes and three exits (one in Pudong and two in Puxi), it will be the Huangpu's longest and widest tunnel. The two exits will bring you at Gangcheng Lu in Pudong, and Changjiang Lu W. and Jungong Lu in Puxi.
But don't rely on it just yet. Due to ongoing work to Metro Line 10, trucks will not be able to use the tunnel from November 18 and the construction work on the Metro will cause the tunnel to be closed sporadically over the coming months.
